Who I am
Originally from the New Orleans area, I moved to Portland in 2016 to dance with PDX Contemporary Ballet. Dance was always a form of meditation and healing for me, so when I found bodywork, I felt right at home.
I graduated from East West College of the Healing Arts in 2020, which was both difficult and perfect timing. Building a practice based on touch and connection in a time when these things weren’t accessible due to COVID-19 was a challenge. But I think we can all agree it’s given us a new perspective on the importance of slowing down, presence, and human connection.
I offer several styles of massage, but my favorite modalities are Barefoot and Thai. You can learn more about these unique styles of bodywork here.
P.S. I pronounce my name myrrh-ee-ELLE cause my mom is French and that’s how she’s said it all my life :)
Why chiron?
Chiron is a mythical centaur associated with the sign of Sagittarius. As a centaur, he represents the duality of this sign. Grounded in the physical world, Chiron shoots his bow and arrow to the stars, searching for meaning. For the key.
Chiron was immortal. Shot by a poisoned arrow but unable to die, he spent centuries searching for a cure. This search led him to become a master healer, known as “wise hands”.
In astrology, your Chiron placement shows where your deepest wound is… and also your greatest opportunity for healing. You don't fix your Chiron placement. You witness it. Much like bodywork. I've learned that the less I focus on the expectation of fixing, and simply bring awareness to the body, the more tension unwinds on its own.
I have a stellium in the sign of Sagittarius (which basically means I'm extra-extra Sagittarius). This stellium plays out in my 8th house, which rules shared experiences and other people's pain. With my Mercury retrograde (talking is hard, writing is easy!) and my Mars at 0 degrees (No thoughts! Just action!) I'm much better at physically working out others' pain points than talking through it. Not to be melodramatic, but maybe I was born for bodywork.
For me, the path to mental and spiritual well being started by caring for my body. Bodywork helped me become more present, more connected. Embodied. It's my hope that my practice can be like Chiron. Grounded firmly in our physical experience, we reach for a greater understanding of spirit.
